Day 3 of our Race for the Cure Journey

Day 3 was great. We started VERY early in the morning. Before heading out to walk, we had to take down our tents (the baseball boys were back to help!) and load our bags on the trucks. After we were all packed up, we loaded busses that took us to our start location for the day. We walked in the beautiful areas of Highland Park, West End, and Pioneer Plaza.

Luggage trucks.....these trucks took our luggage to Fair Park and were ready for us to pick up after the closing ceremony.

These flags were flown all weekend. I love the words and emotions they express.

Heading through Highland Park....we had to be careful to not stumble on the sidewalk as we gauked at all the gorgeous homes.

The beautiful fire house in Highland Park.

Pit stop buddy picture!

Isn't this pink firetruck awesome?

Stairs at mile 10 on Day 3......are you kidding me?

More amazing scenery

After lunch, we headed by American Airlines Center....

.....and through the West End.
We can see the Cotton Bowl in the distance!!! Can you see the power behind Rebecca's walk?!
Perfect sign as we approach the finish line.

And the finish line is here! We did it!!!!

Team Hope Chest had a successful first 3-Day Walk for the Cure! Yeah baby!!!

Cory surprised me at the finish line! He was on shift, but asked someone to come in and cover him for a few hours so that he could be there with me. How amazing is he?! I love him more than words and was so happy he was there to share the experience with me!
While waiting for the closing ceremonies, we watched other teams come in. It was so cool to watch the larger teams wait for all of their members to get there before linking arms and walking through the finish line together. As the last walkers came through, we formed a line in our holding area and cheered them on.

Here we are getting ready to walk in to closing ceremony.
If you look towards to top of the photo, you can see all the women wearing pink shirts. Those were our survivors who walked this year!

My cheering squad! My mom helped Ella make the cutest sign. It was a heart with "Go Mommy!" written on it and then taped to a stick. Ella had so much fun waving it around.
Walking to closing ceremonies!

Survivors circle at closing with our inspirational flags

Everyone held up one shoe to symbolize our dedication to walking again next year!
Closing ceremonies of The 3 Day Walk 2010!!

I know I have said this several times, but I feel so blessed to have gone through this experience with 2 great friends. Shannon, Rebecca and I had such a great time and totally bonded through this journey. We are already signed up to do it again next year and are hoping to recruit more people for Team Hope Chest!

I love that walk.
